[videoblogging] Re: Powerupload (was Uploading videos to multiple sites)

2007-09-28 Thread Gromik Tohoku
Hi,

Someone mentioned Powerupload as a multidistribution
network, so I joined to find out and my profile stated
no credit so I read on and found out...

PowerUploads uses credits for each video you upload
and for each time we upload your video to a video
distribution site in your network. Credits cost 99
cents each, and are refundable at any time.
To purchase credits click on the Buy Credits Now
button below and then select the number of credits you
would like to purchase on the following page. You can
make your purchase using your Pay Pal Account as well
as with any major credit card.

Interesting, I wonder what happens to my vids if I
don't have credit for showing them via their service?

[videoblogging] Re: cell phone picture blog platform?

2007-09-28 Thread Shawn Carpenter
Shozu is a great application for uploading pictures or videos to a lot
of websites provided you have a good data plan on your phone. One
advantage that you get with Shozu is that you can upload files that
are bigger then what you SMS or MMS messages can normally send. This
is a big advantage to those of you out there with the 5MP cell phones
because the full quality images can be too big for your messaging.
Shozu also allows you to send your pictures and video to multiple
sites with just one upload. That and it's a totally free application.
I have used it in the past and if I ever get a phone that is good
enough for mobile uploading again I will be using it again!

Were streams stored here temporally too?
Not sure what you are asking with that one.

Where are streams of audio/video stored if at all?
Your browser cache. On macintel machines, the problem is that the cache
files have no extension, so you have to look for the logical time created
and size.

When watching a stream is the video and audio still stored temporarily
on Mac Intel machines?
Yes, see above. At least it is when using firefox. At the moment I do not
recall exactly where the cache is located - I think firefox creates user
directories and keeps a cache folder in each one.

[videoblogging] sorta like the hollywood bridge

2007-09-28 Thread bordercollieaustralianshepherd
Whata week.

This will be available middle of next month.

Designed www.pinnaclesys.com. The Pinnacle Video Capture for Mac OS
X 10.4 is a USB device (2.0 or 1.1 port) with onboard MPEG-4
compression and hardware video encoding will run you $99.99.

Captures video for iTunes, iPod, iPhone, or Apple TV from any analog
source ... camcorder, set-top box (record TV shows), game console
(record gameplay) or VCR. Inputs include S-Video, Composite video and
stereo audio analog.

Got questions ...

I think when I was using the Mac PPC (OS 10.0 - 10.3.x) when I watched
a video (or a streaming video, once completed,) the video was actually
on my computer in a temporary folder. On that old computer I created a
folder TemporaryItems alias on my desktop for quick access. The
folder is storing Youtube but not say Blip.TV, I cannot remember if
there was/were different locations and I had aliases within that folder.

Part of getting the answer is knowing the right question to ask.
Instead I'll ask it three ways because I am not sure which makes more
sense.
Were streams stored here temporally too?
Where are streams of audio/video stored if at all?
When watching a stream is the video and audio still stored temporarily
on Mac Intel machines?

I may have asked this in a different way once before, someone recently
was inquiring about it too. I know that screen capture is an option.
Don't really want a screen capture of a stream.

I swear I am not thinking of stealing ... promoting would be the only
reason to muck with anyone's work. I would ask first ... you know,
trust me ... do unto others ...

Thanks for the help.

[videoblogging] Job Opening: Education Coordinator for Brooklyn Community Access TV

2007-09-28 Thread carlos
dear friends, educators and compadres in grassroots media,

we have an opening for a full-time education coordinator here at bcat. the
person who had been the education coordinator before was a wonderful
addition to our small team of instructors but he left bcat to pursue
production work with one of the big boyz: viacom. the reason i bring this
up is because the ideal person for this job is someone who is committed to
the social purpose of media and not just someone who wants to be a
filmmaker. i don't mean this to disparage folks whose ambition is to
create content and affect change through their work but the person we need
is someone who understands the importance of educating their community on
how communications tools can work technically to aid in relating your
ideas, thoughts, and experiences and politically to pacify, distract and
compel to action. in other words, a media activist who advocates for media
reform in both their vocational and creative pursuits.

i know that's asking a lot given the entry level starting salary but if
you know someone who fits the bill, please forward this email or the
attached document.

thanks,
carlos

I love the idea behind Miro and I'm very supportive of the project but I'm
like Bill. I test to see that my feeds work every week or two and don't use
it as a core application. It just hasn't become one of those natural
transitions in my computer use pattern and I think it's probably because a
lot of what it does I'm already doing through my browser.

Does anyone here use Miro as a core application and if so was it a conscious
effort to adopt it or did it just slowly become a program you use?

I think I might use Miro more if it had a commenting system built in or some
more give and take. It maybe needs more give and take. It might be too
much of a one way street right now.
