Hey Steve,
Thanks so much for giving us your perspective on what we're trying to
do. I know we are on the same page in terms of where we are headed,
but it's always helpful to get more input from users. And those
considering using.
Im glad crowdabout have implemented a fully embeddable version
.swf files are actually flash video or flash animation files, exported

hyperlinks, jumping around in the video or animation, etc. As an

Long live blip.tv. I agree, their strategy of offering the flv
permalink sets them apart in a world of vieo hosting options. And
with that single link, we videobloggers have a whole host of other fun
things we can do with our content.
(This has been an unpaid and sincerely honest endorsement.)
Then what about magnify.net? I haven't looked closely at how they
aggregate videos...can anyone enlighten me?

I like this idea. I'm even wondering how to make it happen for
people's conversations on our site (CrowdAbout.us) Dang...my partner
is out of town and probably not going to be available to code things
like this for a bit. Was it hard to do? Something we could tell
people how to hack
I just checked, and I've gotten 58,923 views on one video I did that
was featured on YouTube. But did it lead to more subscribers to my
vlog? 4. Yes, four. And the video even contained the web address,
so, yeah, I share your frustration. Perhaps it was the venue.
Perhaps the views were
Keep in mind that YouTube has a financial incentive to get poeple to
the site as often as possible: ad impressions. I'm not saying it's

I'll Deninitely be there! I'm in Atlanta for PodCamp as we speak, and

Hi Daryl,
I know this conversation has kind of gotten far afield of the original
question, but most of it is relevant to some degree or another. As a
content creator, I prefer Flash .flv because of the additional
flexibility it gives me in using so many other services that support
flash video.

.flv, definitely. The reason is simple. .flv is the bare media file,
and .swf takes an .flv, adds a player to play it (and some other
optional things that I won't get in to now) and makes a new packaged
file that is executable, or will open and play in its own player when

Hi Daryl,
Not sure what you mean by using navigation buttons...
In my experience, after testing the newest flash encoder (On2 Flix
Engine with Sorenson encoders) used by Blip.tv and others, I have to
say, I don't see any real disadvantages to Flash anymore. There was a
time when the Flash video

It strikes me that this could become a back end statistics module for

You can add any media file you are watching to your favorites list by
