Confirming same problem ("desktop" machine, Asus MB minimal system,
nvidia card). Resume from suspend powers up (fans, disk, backlight) but
just get black screen, kernel appears wedged, hard reset required. This
is 14.04, both new install and upgrade from 13.04 same problem. Nvidia
proprietary driver or nouveau makes no difference.

I've tested this with different distros (all on the same machine), result:
Ubuntu 13.04: resume works
Ubuntu14.04: resume broken
Debian wheezy: resume works
Debian jessie/testing: resume broken
Mint (recent): resume broken

In /var/log/pm-suspend.log, there's nothing after "performing suspend".

Testing "echo mem > /sys/power/state" to do the suspend:
13.04: resume works
14.04/jessie: resume broken
