Confirmed with VBox 3.0.12 also (with XP guest additions installed) on Karmic. Switching from dual- to single-processor allocation for VBox guest has dramatic, positive, performance effect. Saw no noticeable difference in operating VBox with a generic or 'rt' kernel selected.
