Subject: SAJA Convention & Job Fair advanced tix end tomorrow (sessions are
July 12-15 in NYC)
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[apologies for the cross-posts]

Folks: A reminder that the advanced registration for next week's convention
ends tomorrow. If you haven's signed up yet, please do so right away. You
don't
have to be South Asian or a journalist to attend! We have something -
actually,
lots of somethings - for everyone. Please forward this to your lists.

The panels, workshops and headline events feature some of the biggest names
in
journalism - from Bill Keller, executive editor of The New York Times, to
Amanda Bennett, executive editor of Bloomberg News, to Martin Bashir,
co-anchor
of ABC "Nightline." The Saturday night gala features Sendhil Ramamurthy,
star
of NBC's "Heroes" and one of People's "50 Most Beautiful People."

Tickets start at just $130 ($120) if you buy them by tomorrow, Saturday -
they
include the gala dinner, three reception, 75+ speakers, 40+ panels and
workshops, the job fair. If you can't attend all four days, there are items
you
might want to pick and choose via day passes. This is the cheapest of any
major
convention in the country.

Corporate tables of 10, including full passes to the convention, are just
$1,200 and still available. Let us know: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sponsorship opportunities still available:

Where are YOU going to be next week? Well, if you want to build
your journalism skills, hear from industry leaders, and meet some fantastic
people, it's simple: The SAJA Convention! And no, you don't have to be South
Asian!

It's going to be an amazing four days in New York City, you really don't
want to miss it!

Here's a sampling of what's in store:

Super Workshop: The Essentials for Front Line Editors, presented by the
American Society of Newspaper Editors... This all-day Thursday session is
aimed at editors and those who aspire to join their ranks. Topics of
conversation will include what newspapers need to survive and managing your
boss!

Other workshops: Broadcast live shots, narrative writing, covering America's
emerging religions, multimedia storytelling, radio and podcasts, and even
more!

And when you're not improving your journalism skills, you can hear from
some well-known industry voices, like Bill Keller of The New York Times,
Amanda Bennett of Bloomberg News, and Martin Bashir of ABC's Nightline and
20/20, all keynote speakers.

Who else is going to be there? Rena Golden of CNN International, Aparisim
"Bobby" Ghosh of Time Magazine, Geeta Anand of The Wall Street Journal,
photographer John Stanmeyer, Fred de Sam Lazaro of NewsHour, and author
Suketu
Mehta. They're all coming through SAJA's salons, intimate and casual
settings
for them to interact with convention attendees.

We haven't even mentioned the Awards Dinner! On Saturday, July 14th, we'll
honor the best reporting by South Asians and about South Asia and the
diaspora.
And there will be a very special guest taking your questions: Sendhil
Ramamurthy, one of the stars of NBC's hit show "Heroes" (and one of People
magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People").

Plus, there's a chance for you to show off your photo skills by contributing
to SAJA's Photoforum. If you're interested, check out details at
http://www.tiffinbox.org/2007/06/saja-photoforum.html.

Of course, there's the job fair on Friday and Saturday. Companies joining us
will include The Associated Press, Bloomberg, CNN, and The New York Times.
Plus, convention attendees are welcome to upload their resumes to the
JournalismNext.com database.
