thank you very much for spending your precious time on benchmarking my
patches.

I made recently minor performance improvements (5-10% again) but I am now
working on applying 24.8 fixed-point (DDA) computations on edges.
I expect that change to give a performance boost on multi-core machines
(integer vs float) without loosing quality.

This benchmarks confirms the performance goodness of Laurent's
> work (if there still was any need for that...) and shows, interestingly,

Maybe you should send RFE / bugs to ImageIO PNG encoders ?
