There was a reply to the proposal when it was submitted :

suggesting a different approach, but there was no follow-up. So I don't
really know what
the current status is .. and that was a long time ago.

I’ve tried this fix in a recent local build of OpenJDK and it appears
to resolve the crash.
Could someone let me know if there are plans to fix this bug?
1. In the OpenJDK code base?
2. In the Oracle JDK?
