I expect most of you know but the work that has been going on in a branch
of the OpenJDK sandbox to prototype a Java2D metal rendering pipeline
for macOS
now is its own OpenJDK project called "Lanai".
The vote and the result were announced here :

And the project now has its own mailing list which we will use for
future metal discussions :

Please subscribe to that list if you wish to follow metal discussions.
The first email there provides pointers to the project page, wiki, and repo.
And as you can see from the second mail on that list, the contents of
the sandbox were
pushed to the new project repo and so the sandbox branch
"metal-prototype-branch"
is now considered "closed" - and will actually be closed imminently.
