Hi Jason,

I've received The Rough Guide To Techno (Thanks Tim, excellent job!)
yesterday and thanks to that nice piece of work I can answer question A)
about Mills. Don't mind if I already use a quote (?): 'In 1992, however,
Mills decided to accept the offer of a residency at Peter Gatien's Limelight
club in New York, effectively ending the duo's collaborative efforts and
leaving Banks to continue under the UR banner alone.' Taken from The Rough
Guide To Techno by Tim Barr.

Ok, just checked the part on Robert Hood and here's an answer to the second
question. Another quote from tRGtT: "Along with Alan Oldham (Dj T-1000),
Robert Hood (then knows as Rob Noise) was an early recruit to the fledgling
Underground Resistance organisation. Operating as self-styled 'ministers of
information', Oldham and Hood constructed press releases, mission statements
and took care of whatever day-to-day business came their way. As The Vision,
Hood later became an integral part of the UR infrastructure, adopting the
role of MC for the group's live shows and contributing to releases such as
the Riot EP, 'The Punisher' and X-102 Discovers the Rings of Saturn (1992).
During the same period, his first solo release as The Vision, 'Gyroscopic',
also emerged on the UR label." Taken from tRGtT by Tim Barr.

You see folks, this book is really worth the attention. Get it soon!

John

Subject: (313) Underground Resistance question

I'm writing a biographical piece on the group's music for my independant
study and am curious about the early contributions by Jeff Mills and Robert
Hood.

A) when exactly did Mills stop collaborating with Banks?

It sounds as though he was involved with the X-101 record (UR-013.5) but I'm
guessing he left the group shortly after. I haven't heard many of the
releases following X-101 except for MIA (UR-018) and Message to the Majors
(UR-21) so it's hard for me to guess.

B) was Hood ever that involved?

He obviously was involved with the Gyroscopic record and I've heard rumors
of him participating on the Riot record, but again I really don't have any
idea about how involved he was after that.

I'm going under the assumption that neither Mills nor Hood had anything to
do with UR once they started Axis. It's hard to tell exactly when this was
because so many of the UR records don't list a date.

Any input would is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jason
