Elliot Taub :

It would be without the Grateful Dead, which would make >the world a far better place.

It's easy to think about drugs from users/abusers point of view, but there's so much more disgusting things behind them that people always forget.

Death, violence, murders, blackmail, mafias, sorrow, tears and misery etc... Take a look at Columbia or any other country where farmers are forced to grow drug-plants or they are killed. Take a good look at backyard heroin-junkies. Take a look at countless deaths due to drug-business.

Somebody's saying: "those things are because now drugs are illegal". Yeah right; how does it improve if drugs were legalized, even lighter ones, Cannabis for example?

Some fourteen-year old kid smokes one heavy joint and spends rest of his/her life in cannabis psychosis. You wanna take responsibility for that? Or LSD for that matter, even one "eternal trip" is too much if it's avoidable.

It's so easy to take a romantic view or glamorize the whole "artist" drug-use. Just because some depressed europeans and americans in the last century took drugs like candy doesn't mean there's something "mystical" or "secret" knowledge in drugs. Maybe those artist would tell a whole different story. Maybe they would've been happier without drugs and constant depressive moods. Maybe some of them would have given anything for a clear day.

And if someone's sayin' "that's the price of culture", I say that's BULLSHIT.
