I finally tracked this new mixtape down (Methods of Movement), Groovy Train in Ferndale (next to the other RecordTime location on 9 Mile) had this new one and the one from 1999 (Theo Parrish "Live in Detroit"). Love this stuff, plenty of pops and hisses... amazing historical selections, the soul is thicker than the scum around Zug Island. RecordTime also has the exquisite Dan Bell mix CD on Tresor and the Paris the Black Fu mix CD on THROW (there are 2 volumes, 1 techno and 1 jungle). I got the techno one, very Claude Young stylee mixing, aggressive in true detroit fashion everything is pitched way up and cut-n-scratch. Extra long and funny shout-outs at the intro with a noted shout to Ian Malbon (I.M.) and the lovely Linda Swanson, yeeeee. Worth seeking this one out, anyone have the jungle mix CD by Paris, how does it compare (besides music style, obviously). cheers -- Matt MacQueen http://www.reverbmag.com radio show archives in real audio --> http://macqueen.com/radio
