First up - if people are going to hog the list with posts defending the likes of Spicelab (what the f*ck!?) and petty genre arguments then please at least take the time to cut down the amount of previous spam that you're quoting. It doesn't take long and makes your posts marginally less irritating as there's less crap to scroll through...
Second up - here are a few *313-relevant* records I've bought recently which are hitting the spot... Shake - Songs For My Mother (Frictional) Yet more quality stuff from Shakir - ploughing a resolutely individual furrow through techno and packing more soul into the grooves than most. 'Simpatico' is the killer, with some serious bassline action.. Recloose - Can't Take It (Planet E) Third killer 12" from Mr Chicoine - not quite as mindblowing as 'Spelunking' but still a cut above most of the crap out there. Fresh, funky, unique and deep... Metro Area - 2 (Environ) Oh yes! More high-quality deepness from Geist and Jesrani, keeping that retro funk flavour but with a 21st-century edge. 'Machine Vibes' is the killer on here for me (though the other two are also excellent) - great bassline, chords and melodies coupled with a masterful arrangement and beautiful production quality. Buy on sight... Various - Soul: Often Imitated Never Duplicated (Moods & Grooves) Nice four-tracker from Brian Harden, Mike Grant, Alton Miller and Brett Dancer. All are great in their own way but it's Harden's 'Nubian Shuffle' that is glued to my deck - fantastically dirty with hard-swung drums, low-slung bass and a groove that doesn't stop... out Tom
