that's a joke right ?
on the music side SNF is hardly even disco, some good funk(boogie
shoo) and pop(B G's,i only consider "Should be dancing" disco)
on TGIF you had the whole Casablanca roster doing stuff there
(some of the best music in the film was not on the soundtrack
Morodor-from here into eternity,Constandinos - Romeo&Juliet etc)
Also the soundtrack came out(for collectors) on a seperate 10 x 12"
how's that for a disco concept? :)
in the actual movie you had ppl from the disco culture , not just
Donna Summer but :Comodors,Cameo,Thelma Huston,Paul Jabara
etc,who did you have in SNF a Carol Douglas poster from 50 meters
blah
i don't wanna get into things like plot, social context etc,as it all about
personal taste, but 2 points that realy stand out are:
in TGIF you have LOTS of shots inside the dj booth,he's playing 12"
(some you migh even recognize, and it's not the ones you hear, lough)
also drugs!the nurse character with the red hair, that was taking the
pils,(green for up red for down)yes disco was associated with drugs but
mainly coke, here you had a look into the future xtc culture, back in the 80's
(78???), not to mention all the joints bein passed (lough)
charachters like the Leathermen"dance his way thru life" thats deep!:)
anyway with the BG"S coming from Brisbane were i live i'm defintly
not biased,TGIF is the best disco movie!even if you compare it with
more recent ones like Studio 54 etc
