You mentioned price as a concern, and I thought I'd add that the 606 tends to go for about U$100 more on average than the 707, but you should be able to find one for around U$250. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for a 707, if that. I agree that the 606 is superior. As someone else said, the 707 is more useful as a controller.
