Hey,,

I checked Roland last Saturday in Adelaide...
I had my reservations before going to the venue, that
this would be just another rave...The promotion was
rave, the venue has been used a million times (for
raves) and there were 2 faceless rave djs headlining
next to Rolando...

When I got to the 'rave' HMC was playing pretty damn
hard, it was 1:15...at 1:30 a promising ambience had
filled the old church of St Pauls...what would it lead
to? Well, it lead to Knights of the Jaguar, as I had
predicted, but beyond that the rest of Rolandos set was
not what I thought it would be.

What I had expected was a set of soulful detriot
influenced techno, and i hoped to hear some electro...
more z tracks,. basically I was thinking along the
lines of the astek mystik cd, but, unfortunately (for
me at least) that was not it.

After Knights of the Jaguar it was pretty much linear
techno from there on, dush dush dush chigaching
chigaching. But dont get me wrong, the mixing was tight
as it gets, nice eq's to get some air in those flares and those glostiks
pumpin, but the atmosphere was not
quite enuf to hold my attention, and maybe Ive heard 1
too many bangin tek traks in my lifetime...

I only wish that we could have had this party in a
small 200 person club, where the focus wouldnt have
been on how many dance steps you can fit between the
beats and whether your e would run out before your
glowstik!

Is Rolando playing any other gigs besides the 'big one' in Melbourne?

Cheerz.
