State warns of meningitis risk <<...OLE_Obj...>> The state is warning of a meningitis risk stemming from a party in Mason Count. The state Department of Community Health said today that a young woman who attended a rave party near Hoags Lake in Mason County last weekend has developed a potentially fatal form of meningitis. Officials said other party-goers should get medical treatment right away. The Department of Community Health said the woman has contracted meningococcal meningitis. She appears to be recovering while hospitalized, but has been unable to identify all people she potentially came in contact with, the department said. The department recommended all people who attended the party receive precautionary treatement for meningoccal exposure. The department said it was reported that the party involved much drinking and sharing of a pacifier which had been dipped in the drug "ecstasy." It said it also appears there was "a considerable amount of close contact between the young woman and many of the other attendees at the party." And those people may be at serious risk, it said.
