Please pardon the length but I had to share. I wish the info was quicker
reaching me about the Oliver Ho /Surgeon and Kenny/ Sean events I would have
planned to be there all week but as it was an amazing trip. What a great 3
day period for NYC last week!
I saw Alton Miller ( deep house )& Ron Trent ( tribal house to classics)
@PS1 Sunday dj 2000 summer series.
Sat is the last event for this year. If in the neighborhood from 3-9 pm
don't miss it.
About 4-6000 people burying their feet in the sand, dipping them in water,
or bouncing to tunes in a Phillip Johnson designed outdoor "patio"!
If the music didn't inspire or you needed to chill the 4 story old school /
art gallery provided ample space to relax or examine a plethora of works.
Limelight : Mills back to the spot where he initially blew up!
  A 3 hr set 3 decks vestax mixer 909
cut up style mixing lots of tracks & back spinning with walls of sound.
When keeping it to 2 decks he was seamless but on occasions when working the
3 he would lose a track here and there. Absolutely no efx a very dry mix. It
was like he wanted to ensure we could here his mistakes.
909 work was nice but not very integrated he would mix out of a record work
the 909 (and the crowd ) for about 10 minutes then mix out. This occured
about twice an hour. He did use some preset loops because he wasn't always
writing but focusing on turning the levels decays and tones on the cymbals
and high hats. He seemed to have 3 elements that he focused on; hard techno,
classic acid/rave tracks; and dark hard house. I enjoyed the performance
greatly. I was probably more impressed with how the crowd ( well mixed with
an emphasis on Asians ) responded. They loved it every minute of it. The
floor was always on the verge of TOO many bodies. I am dreaming of the day
I can have that kind of a crowd to play to.
Maybe he will rock the DEMF next year!?!?
anybody ??
