Only thing I know about him is that for no apparent reason he was a complete douchebag on this list when I was helping out with Bone's attack mixes a few years ago.

Seth Troxler is a great DJ actually, but I think he lives in Berlin now...

easy now. I haven't heard Seth Troxler's music yet, nor Seoul's. But
how many people show up is not a valid yardstick for musical validity. And I'm not dissing Seoul or DTM -- Angie and Tom have been wonderful
to me over the years.

I'm just saying you shouldn't take Tristan's comments as a blanket
condemnation of everyone's tracks he HASN'T heard, 2000 miles away in
London...

hmmm... taking the bait here Tristan....

you think Seth Troxler is the best out of Detroit...? I'd never heard
of him so I asked around and just heard some interesting comments
about him... and besides the comments about him starting out as a
trance DJ... from what I hear of his recent local influence... he
threw a party the same night DJ Seoul from Detroit Techno Militia had
his birthday party, and from what I hear no one showed to Troxler's
event, but over 300 people were at Seoul's... so, I'm surprised you
think S.T.'s the best music being produced in the city, there's a
whole world of music being produced here thats amazing. You should do
a bit more research about whats being produced here...

I'm picking holes in language, but I wish people would recognise the nearly-as-old and equally important legacy of Detroit house in the same breath, if they're only going to utter one sentence. It's not all about the fact that techno started in Detroit and that a large part of the techno canon is from there. Detroit techno has largely been replaying itself but Detroit house continues to remain fresh. See: Reggie Dokes, 3rd Ear, etc. I'd say the best techno coming from Detroit today comes from Seth Troxler, and that's arguably more house than techno. There's still good Detroit techno out there, but not much of it is coming from Detroit. Or that's my antagination towards getting some discussion going here again anyway.
