Also - related. I was just saying to Robin last night (we were talking records / collections generally) I always assumed any mainstream LPs on majors from over 10 years back wouldn't have high second hand value, as they were produced in sufficient quantity at the time that there'd be plenty of supply knocking about. Not talking obscure weirdies / limited things / things with faults / very early releases on smaller labels etc.
A couple of things recently have shown me this isn't the case (maybe many of you are puzzled that I thought it was!): I was talking with someone at a meal who told me she wanted Talk Talk : Laughing Stock on vinyl, but it goes for around £300. I was partly pleased as I knew I had it. But I was (and still am) more worried as I don't know if I *still* have it, if I do I don't know if it's stashed in some corner of my flat or up at my father's place - or even if might have just got sat on at a party at mine or some similar awful fate that has befallen a few of my records. Then a friend in a shop asked me the other day if I wanted vinyl of the new Sade LP saving. I was kind of "no, sure if I get that it'll just be a download to listen to on my phone". And he was "do you know the last one" (late 90s I think?) "goes for round £150?". I think it's one of the few things *ever* I thought "I'm not going to DJ with *that*" and so got the CD! > From: fran...@thatamazingthing.com [mailto:fran...@thatamazingthing.com] > Sent: 10 February 2010 10:07 > > Oooh, that made me look again.
