Seth did spend a fair amount of time living in the Detroit area though, so I think he counts. I remember hearing him play records in a basement in Ferndale along with Lee Curtiss for an extended period of time, maybe 3 years ago.
But I would note that again, both Kyle and Seth are really more on the house tip... But this does bring up a point: the only way to make it is to get booked in Europe, and that's not necessarily an easy thing to pull off, especially for somebody younger. Surely there could be more potential up and coming artists who will never get anywhere because they don't have enough money and / or connections to get to Europe regularly. You'll definitely never get noticed playing out in Detroit or Chicago... And it's not like putting a good release out would be enough to get anyone's attention now. So I guess my point is, suppose there was somebody really hot on the rise, what are the chances that the list would ever find out about them? The world has changed a lot since techno started... ~David On Wed, Mar 3, 2010 at 1:11 AM, Odeluga, Ken <ken.odel...@dowjones.com> wrote: > >>I'm sure I'm missing someone... > > Denise > > -- > Denise Dalphond > Ph.D. Candidate > Department of Folklore & Ethnomusicology Indiana University > http://denisedjsdetroit.blogspot.com/ > > ******* > > Well maybe you are Denise! :) > > But only if you want to include someone from nearby rather than from the > city... > > Seth Troxler is from Kalamazoo.
