It always seems like there's yet more acid ,especially when you dig
through my collection. I wasn't necessarily getting/digging it when I
bought those records in the day ( I could name some prominent examples),
but my point of view has changed over the years, so that I find myself
playing both softer (read housier, though I'll only go so far in that
direction) and much harder tracks than was the case when
I was first introduced to techno/IDM in 1993. At any rate, this week's
set starts with a couple of foundation tracks from Walter/Wendy Carlos
and Dick Hyman, and forges its way through electro, acid, Cologne
minimalism, Detroit techno, and a few other genres for about twenty
tracks. After that, it's my job to stitch on some of KFJC's current
acquisitions. Last week's set and the one before that can be viewed at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=40462 and
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=40506 . Last week was "DJ of
the Month Club" featuring the "Friends" mix from Triple R (Riley
Reinhard), DJ since 1989 and founder of Trapez and Traum Schallplatten,
KFJC is preparing for the month of May, which is traditionally set aside
for special features. I'm doing a pair of 2-part specials in May during
my normal time slot, one on Dan Curtin, and the other on the revived
100% Pure label from Amsterdam. Check the program schedule for other
items of interest.
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Friday Night/Saturday Morning,
10P-2A (6A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.
If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at pr...@kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.
Regards,
Richard Hester
