If you are now planning on buying records regulalry then the best way is to go into a record store and talk to the guys in there. It is there job to know what is good etc. Now that said not every record store attendant is going to have the same tastes as you, by the sounds of it your not even completely sure which genre you like. This list is dedicated to detroit techno although it seems as though other forms of minimal techno and chicago house are acceptable too. There would be no point in everyone on here giving you a top 10 when you may like jungle or trance. My suggestion is if you don't have time (imho there is always time but i love spending hours in record shops) then check out a website that sells records with the option of listening to sound bites see http://www.juno.co.uk it has a variety of styles and artists. If you used to buy records just check out the artists you used to buy, most are probably still making music and by doing searches for them on something like artistdirect.com you should be able to find other related artists. andrew ps this is my first post to 313 so in case anyone is interested: I'm a 24 yo male living in Adelaide, Australia (shout outs to tan,jm,nexus, cjp and royal, yeah i finally joined up =) ) I have been going to raves for about 7 years but only really concentrated on techno and house for the last 4 b4 that it was mixed with some really bad happy hardcore and early jungle :) also noticed this list has a variety of people from the uk, if anyone lives around Dunfermline, Scotland (where i was born) i'd love to here from them to find out what's going on with techno there.
