I saw Ken Ishii with Derrick May and Derrick Carter in Chicago a few years
back in a high school gym. Surreal setting...

His set stradled the beginning of Derrick Carter's so I missed the end of
his set. His mixing was not spectacular, but I got the impression he had
trouble hearing (it was in a high school gym). His track selection was top
notch though. Derrick May had none of the same problems - his set was
awfully tight. I wouldn't compare their DJ styles - I think they're very
different. Derrick May is extremely creative and Ken Ishii was pretty
straightforward (not that that's necessarily a bad thing). I would
definitely go out of my way to see him again though. It's been almost three
years and I would like to see him in a proper setting.
