As with the Moritz von Oswald radio triple special I presented last
year, I figured it was time to try and untangle Wolfgang Voigt's huge
and varied discography before it became too massive to even think of
approaching. He's been hammering away since 1988 under even more guises
than Atom Heart (that's saying something). Acid, miniminimal, ambient,
pop appropriation, modern electronics, painting, live performance, label
head - he's done it all. I expect that this various projects will
sometimes entrance. sometimes enrage the denizens where I post this
missive. No surprise, as my general show will tend to pi** off those
with strictly monochromatic interests.
So, if you're interested, I'm presenting a 4-part radio special series
called "The Many Faces of Wolfgang Voigt". This will be going out live
in 4 parts starting Friday, May 6, 10P-2A PDST (GMT-8 hrs) on KFJC-FM,
89.7. Los Altos Hills, CA, and continuing for each succeeding Friday in
May at 10P-2A (16 hrs total!). Web streaming can be had at kfjc.org, and
all KFJC shows go into a rolling archive that's up for 2 weeks after
show date. The first sequence will feature early stuff under many guises,
and tracks as Mike Ink, one of Voigt's most notorious flags of
convenience. If you don't like acid, you'll really hate this segment..
There You Go,
Goodwrench.
