Vanity Press has showcased the current up-and-coming artists (including Huey Mnemonic). But there is a warrant just gone out for the arrest of owner David Marroquin for battery and domestic violence. The abused posting about this has unleashed a torrent from those involved financially about ongoing irregularities with the label.

A lot of the artists on Vanity Press have distanced themselves from Marroquin, including Huey Mnemonic. There's no indication he, or any other of the people released on that label knew Marroquin was capable of that. As with many other abusers, one wonders if people knew he was capable of something like this. When someone gets some share of power in a scene, people have to have some courage to come out and talk about their misdeeds. As has been seen with David Morillo. People knew.
