Hey all
I'd say I'm "still here" but I did unsub for quite a long time. Going by my
Discogs entries for new adds to my collection I had pretty much stopped
listening to techno/house around 2011 and was well into collecting
post-punk records (vintage OG stuff) and found my way to the intersection
of late 70s/early 80s dub reggae/punk/post-punk. I sold one of my Technics
to a good friend and put my mixer into storage. I wasn't listening to much
of my house/techno records - without the mixer and second deck it was kinda
boring to put a "tracky" record on - so I began to sell off a lot of them
(but not all).
I befriended my local beer seller over discussions of music and rare record
finds. He pulled me back into DJing and we (three of us) now have a regular
radio show on Macalester College's radio station in St Paul Minnesota. We
do a 2 hour Tuesday night show called Student Human, 6-8pm CDT. The mix is
pretty eclectic. I'm usually playing a mix of funky jazz, soul/r&b, dub,
hip-hop, broken-beat/bruk house, Afro-beat, whatever goes... the two other
hosts Carl-One, leans heavily toward hip-hop and downtempo beats, and LVL
is a complete wildcard but he's always playing something good. Then we also
have guest DJs who have played everything from funk to heavy metal.

We had a regular live gig for about a year but the bar manager/owners were
fickle and decided they'd have employees bring in records instead of paying
us. So we're looking for a new home for our sounds.
The radio station has been good but the equipment is a bit jankey. No DJ
mixer between decks - just the main mixer, so it's all mostly fades out/in.
They did just buy us new Technics and apparently there is a DJ mixer on the
college's shopping list. Despite none of us being students at the college
they've given us this slot and are now making improvements and
reintroducing physical media to their mass communications courses (we're
the only show that has been 100% dedicated to vinyl).
I'm continuing to pare down my collection while simultaneously rebuilding
it with new things. If you're want a look you can find me at
