the left/right track1/track2 trick is not X2 technology
X2 is also known as double grooves.
Two distinct tracks recorded interlaced. (both stereo)

mastering engineers have been doing this for more than 10 years.

a good way to describe it physically...
think of a record groove as a spiral that starts outward and works its way
inward. now a double groove has 2 different spirals (tracks) interlaced.
if you are trying to cue, its a bitch. because every OTHER groove is the
same track when working from the outside - in.
what really made me laugh was when NSC called it "X2" and everyone was like
WOW!!! Aardvark's been doing it for years and he does it for free.

its easier than a locked groove.
