I'm not a fruityloops hacker -- I can see where it would be cool but
I've got my plate full with other methods. I have watched Tony Rohr
work fruityloops to excellent effect, and his setup is much simpler
than what you're contemplating.

Tony sets up a fruityloops song with something like 75-80 rows. Some
rows are individual drum hits that he's pre-sequenced, and some trigger
longer oneshot samples or loops.

He has 3 or 4 patterns defined, basically a main pattern and turnaround
patterns he can flip to.

So his whole set is muting and unmuting rows and tweaking effects. And
it turns out to be very effective.

What you're talking about is much more complicated, and you're going
to run into sync problems when you're mixing between songs. Ultimately
if you can solve the sync problems, and you computer can handle 2 instances
of fruitloops without glitching, this would actually be a very effective
way to do a live set.

As for whether the set could hold someone's attention, I think that's more
up to the quality of your tracks than the means they're presented.

If it's crowd reaction you're talking about, setting up long breakdowns and
pumping your fist in the air when the kick comes in seems to work pretty well,
even if it's a cheap trick.

The true heads aren't swayed by cheap theatrics, but then they'll be with
you if the tracks are tight, even if all you do is hide under a table and
tweak knobs.
