Not really that useful for your needs, John, but check out Kerri Chandler's "Hallelujah" on King Street from years back. The flip features a very epic, dubby (and too fast) Roy Davis Jr mix but the original mix is absolutely stunning. For single handedly providing the skippitty snares, compressed to f**k kick drum and deep bassline blueprint later picked up by UK garage DJs: respect to Kerri Chandler! Anyway, here's some more useful stuff...
Jahsonic's site has a feature: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/1392/KerriChandler.html http://www.mir-media.com/kerrichandler.html There's the old tale that he taught himself to mix at age 9 on his dad's decks when pa wasn't around. One day his dad caught him and threatened him with severe parental punishment unless he could pull off a decent mix. Needless to say, he managed it.
