        Thanks for the advice.  I'll definitely check these out.  It's too
bad if there's not a lot of techno going on.  But when it does happen, is it
usually quality?  And are there any really good local djs who spin detroit
style stuff?  Maybe some electro too?

Welcome in Amsterdam. There are not that much techno-events in Amsterdam but
you can check Vaaghuyzen (underground-dj-cafe) or Rushhour (record-shop,
Spuistraat 98)  for the things you want to know.
