(Long...little repetitive--just my take....)

Since the m-nus website posted the start time for Jak as 12 midnight, my
friends and I headed down to City Club and got in line about 11:30 pm. When
we pulled up, the line appeared to wrap completely around the entire
building, but fortunately, it was two separate lines--one for Richie and one
for the Planet-e party. The Richie line took up about one and a half lengths
of the Ramada building when I arrived.

We initially expected they would begin letting people in at about 1:00 am
due to our experiences with other Richie parties, but when 1:00 am arrived,
we had hardly moved. As time passed, people in front of us dropped out of
line, allowing us to move up a little. When the rain started at about 1:30,
much more people dropped out of line. I think everyone there was pretty
upset about the wait, especially considering none of the bouncers clued
anybody in as to what was going on, but we had already wasted 2 hours of our
night and trying to go anywhere else would just have made the wait seem more
pointless.

Finally about 2:15 we got in the door. The 75 people or so behind us, also
got in soon after--I believe. Once inside, we found out that the place was
already packed. I have no idea how all the people got in considering the
fact I was there at 11:30 and I never saw any people flow into the club. The
flyer said capacity was 1000, and the woman at the door said at least 3000
had already been in/out throughout the night.

As for the atmosphere inside, it was very dark and very packed. We made it
onto the dancefloor and as mentioned by other attendees, the sound was
deafening. It rattled my insides to the point I felt it might be unhealthy.
Adding to my fear of bodily harm was that I was part of a sea of people
pressed together so tightly we could hardly move. From what I could see,
there was only one exit, and all I could think about was getting trampled to
death. Also, I narrowly avoided getting the end of a cigarette in my eye
several times.

With all that considered, however, I still enjoyed myself for the short time
I was there. The dark atmosphere combined with the large crowd and pounding
music was exhilerating--even after hours in the cold and rain.

I hope for future events, however, either Richie gets some respect for his
fans and does something about the ridiculous waits and over capacity venues,
or perhaps the fans turn there backs on the mistreatment and don't attend at
all. Unfortunately I don't forsee any of that happening, considering Richie
is good and he and the rest of the world knows it...
