Hi y'all
First up, sorry for hogging the bandwidth. I wanted to be able to reach as
many concerned parties as possible.
I wanted to let you know that the proposed UR gig at the Music Box in
Manchester will not be going ahead. I know some of you were planning on
attending, and I wouldn't want you making the trip in vain. I work at ePM,
the company who acted as booking agents for this proposed event, and as
such, I'd just like to clear up a few details.
Basically, the promoter of the event has not been forthcoming with necessary
payments, and until the beginning of this week, the agent had not received a
signed contract for the booking.
The cut-off date for payment of the deposit was the 13th of this month -
money needed to be wired to relevant parties for payment of travel expenses.
This date came and went, and the promoter became extremely difficult to
contact. On Monday of this week, the promoter was reminded that until the
deposit was paid and the contracts were signed, this booking was not
confirmed. The booking agency then had to wire money from it's own account
to cover expenses - there is more than one UR gig this weekend and it's
unreasonable to go back to confirmed bookings and ask for more money. After
a further unproductive conversation with the promoter, it was decided to
cancel the gig. The agent had lost complete confidence in the promoter, and
considering the profile of the act(s) in question, trust is a very important
thing.
Today, the promoter made a last ditch attempt to strike a deal with the
booking agent, but still, no money has changed hands. It is my conclusion at
this point, that the promoter is going to advertise the gig right up until
the doors open, despite the fact that this booking has not been made
official. It would more likely than not be explained by either an unreliable
act, or an unreasonable booking agent, in the hope that punters will still
pay the cash to enter the club.
I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THERE WILL BE NO U.R. PRESENCE AT
TONIGHT'S EVENT AT THE MUSIC BOX IN MANCHESTER. HOWEVER, THE APPEARANCE AT
'FLUX' IN LONDON TOMORROW NIGHT IS 100% CONFIRMED.
Apologies for the disappointment....
I would like to emphasize that this cancellation does not reflect on
Underground Resistance in any way. I hope that has been made clear in this
statement.
