Although "Closer to the Edit" discussion has been on this board before, I have only recently picked up a copy and must say that I was distinctly underwhelmed. I expected a lot more from it, especially variety. However having only listened on a home system, his set up may sound a whole lot more interesting in a club set-up.
I saw Hawtin @ The End around November 2000 and was blown away by him, but then at Sonar in June he was dismal, being rather dull and without variety. I admire his methodology and approach, but I feel sometimes that the minimal approach he uses might be better off as part of a live act rather than just DJing. Although I'll probably be shouted down, in the UK especially I feel that live acts are usually given much more time by a crowd if they experiment rather than just Djing to a club atmosphere where people are likely to get bored if they hear repitition. I'd love to see a lot more "micro-house" (see The Wire a few months back) acts over here in the UK but I just can't see them fitting into the music policy of club promoters over here. www.bleep43.co.uk ----- Original Message--- From: Gary Girard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: daweed <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <313@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2001 1:14 PM Subject: RE: [313] Hawtin & Magda > > Entertainment UK Limited > Registered Office: 243 Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex UB3 1DN. > Registered in England Numbered 409775 > > This e-mail is only intended for the person(s) to whom it is addressed and may > contain confidential information.
