Plastic People is on Curtain Road just off Old Street in north London. I think the neighborhood would be described as sort-of-Hoxton with a pinch of Shoreditch. No tubes really close by, the nearest are Old Street and Liverpool Street.
Curtain Road is rather, erm, unprepossessing, and you have to look carefully for the entrance at 147-149, then go downstairs. When I was there in December 2000 it was a nice little club with a bar room and a slightly larger music room and, biggest surprise of all, a really *serious* sound system. Someone (Tom or Hillie from uk-dance) told me it cost 50,000 pounds and I wouldn't be surprised.
