was there a thread about vegetarian food somehwere in here? i wanted to ask if anyone has ever ate at Govinda's--i haven't been there myself, but i keep reading that the food is good.
it's a vegetarian indian restaurant in the fisher mansion, which is now owned by the hare krishnas. i always wondered how this came about, so i finally looked on the web today: apparently it was bought in the 70s by one of henry ford's great grandsons and the daughter of walter reuther (?!), who must have been adherents of ISKCon, b/c it then became the bhaktivedanta cultural center. --Suman On Wed, 15 May 2002, Jones, George wrote: > You simply cannot forget any of the Coney Island joints ANYWHERE in Detroit. > I always stop at one whenever I'm visiting. > > -----Original Message----- > From: PhedX [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, May 15, 2002 4:08 PM > To: 313@hyperreal.org > Subject: [313] re food DEMF > > > cass cafe is also good, GreekTown. > > If you go to Eastern Market for any of the shows going on during the DEMF > there are awesome ribs, awesome breakfasts... and a large fruit and veggie > market for the health concious on a budget (butchers and bakers for people > looking to eat at the hotel...
