people pay insane prices on ebay. AND many don't even know what they're
buying, or looking for; i won martin circus - disco circus for $2, just
because it was listed with the title on the b-side, in the same week
someone else payed $40 for the same prelude pressing.

True enough on both ends. I have seen real collectors' items go for a
pittance (or end with no bids) right next to things with large bids which
you can grab off of just about any decent shelf.
