This year the German festival will centre its attention on the most important creative focal points of music production of Spain and Latin America, and will present more than 135 performances on more than 60 stages situated in very attractive locations (churches, auditoriums, castles, country houses) spread around the local area. One of the people running the label, camouflaged as Evol and Opopop, has released work on the Viennese label Mego, which is very close in both its sound and its intentions. AGF/Dlay Soundsystem: The talent of Antye Greie-Fuchs (the person behind the electronic pop projects Laub and AGF) and that of Sasu Ripatti (a skilled producer of micro sounds such as Luomo, Uusitalo and Vladislav Delay) converge in an experience that merges murky atmospheres, crackling sounds, elaborate rhythms and the voice used as if it were any other instrument in order to create deep textures. Balago: This Barcelona trio investigates the relationship between emotions, texture and a discourse that is taken from American ambient-rock of the mid nineties (Labradford, Aix Em Klemm, Stars Of The Lid, Aspera Ad Astra) which is maximised by the interaction between dense electronica and manipulated guitars. Golan Levin: For years now, Golan Levin's work in the American avant-garde has been noteworthy. Using the computer as his main instrument, Levin explores tone and texture in order to create new sounds and follow unusual methods. Lately he has also played with composing tones for mobile phones. Tito: Though his natural environment is the dancefloor that's where he develops a discourse based on techno and house but that is always open to new languages , the Barcelona artist Tito also knows how to break with conventions and explore more experimental routes at the decks, bordering on ambient and IDM. The Nairobi Trio: Tropical sounds, lounge, bossa and futurist cocktail music are some of the trends that can be heard when The Nairobi Trio (Txarly Brown, Eva Brown and Rude Taylor) are behind the decks, but there's more to come, from reggae to house with strong sensual undertones. Felix Kubin: For years now Kubin has produced most of his material on his own label Gagarin, a source of artistic inclinations (a concept that is half way between electro acoustic experimentation, electronically pure sound and a terrorist stance) that always take on risks at all levels. Super_Collider: When Cristian Vogel and Jamie Lidell come together they become Super_Collider, a funk machine that pays homage to the classics of black music with a sound design based on noise, cut out and finely chopped samples and concrete music, an experimental madness yet that still has soul in it. Cristian Vogel: The instigator of the No Future platform (the most anarchic and revolutionary version of world techno) and a ceaselessly restless creator, Vogel is the maximum exponent of dance music with attitude around today. This is not only due to his funk experiments as Super_Collider but because he merges academic music with techno and also produces computer music the old way under his alias Trurl & Klapacius. Sideral: Aleix Vergés is one of the most versatile DJs in Barcelona. He is able to set the dancefloor on fire with an always refined selection of techno and house and to also delve into the more experimental sounds of IDM, one of his older passions, from those days at the Nitsa club when he played tracks by Aphex Twin and Mike Paradinas. Luomo: Luomo is the alias that Vladislav Delay adopts for his house experiments, a fusion of 4x4 beats, clicks'n'cuts, digital with a healthy pop orientation that has captivated dancefloor regulars and connoisseurs in experimental music alike. 8 Doogymoto: Today they are one of the future names of world IDM. The group have received blessings even from the influential Hefty label. Twisted and funky dance music based on experimental sounds that are freely mixed with pop.
