to me, every record i own is like a little present. every time i've bought new records, i read the sleevenotes, looked at the artwork on the label, checked the record for little messages, etc.

because i buy both new and old records, one thing strikes me everytime. new records hardly ever have anything extra to offer to freaks like me! sure, the music is what it's about, but it wouldn't kill you to give the record a little extra now would it?

look at planet e releases: the only thing that sets one record apart from the other [visually!] is the name of the artist, and track titles. compare that to those lovely retroactive labels...

there are exceptions, of course! ur pays close attention to how they present their music [the 'warning' sign on the sleeves, the little messages edged in the run out grooves.] but on the whole, most labels produce cost effective, which means: uniform labels.

this brings me to my question: what's your favorite [313] label artwork? [sleeve artwork is next weeks topic!]

mine:
k alexi shelbi - all for leesah [transmat]
rhythim is rhythim - the beginning [transmat]
sandor caron - zwpeg typis [delsin]

and an honourable mention to the retroactive dedication art on:
theo parrish - that day [archive]
