Steve 'Silk' Hurley & Stacey Pullen

Two DJ legends this week on Mix-Up.
First up Steve 'Silk' Hurley with a 90 minute exclusive mix of his current
favourite tunes. Silk received a Grammy nomination this year for his remix
of Bob Marley's "Soul Shakedown" and this was his third nomination in the
last four years!
Silk grew up in Chicago and quickly built a reputation for his mixing skills
and for being at the forefront of the emerging house music scene in the 80s.
He had early hits including a number one with a track called "Jack Your
Body". He's since remixed Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson, Mary
J.Blige, Sounds of Blackness and Madonna to name a few, as well working on
his own projects.

Despite his hectic production schedule Silk still finds time for his first
love DJing and tonight on Mix-UP you can hear his current set.
Next up Stacey Pullen who began his career as a DJ in the fertile musical
city of Detroit in the mid 80s. Influenced by Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills,
Kraftwerk and Derrick May....Stacey was one of the first DJ/producers to
experiment with tribal, percussive beats. He's now an established fixture on
the international dance circuit and a respected remixer and producer with a
multitude of record labels. The 90 minute set you'll hear on Mix-UP was
recorded at Seven Nightclub in Melbourne on Wednesday 25th September during
Stacey's recent tour of Australia.
