ill tell you who i am: someone who knows better than them : P

no really, i love this idea that peoples' opinions are now the
defining method of measurement. thats the silliest bunch of
horsesh*t. find any uncreative idea, and you can find some nitwit
who will love it. opinion is totally irrelevant. the way to
measure good music (or art in general) is from the motivation and
love the artist had when making it. its pretty simple to see, or
hear in the case of music. if someone is just blindly ripping off
another artist to make money, you can hear it in their sound. the
same goes for people trying to make music for pretty much any
reason other than the fact that they LOVE music. take just about
any major label popular musical group, and you can watch their
decline from writing good songs to writing bad music in order to
continue to sell records and make money.

and as far as loopy techno goes, when i hear it the emotion i get
from the artist is pretty much about what i expect from a 2 year
old throwing a temper tantrum.

my definition of techno consists of the output of certain labels:
UR, planet e, metroplex, and transmat define techno for me. within
those labels, theres such a silly diversity of sound yet it all
remains techno. so at the same time people here were saying
moodymann and broken beat type stuff was not techno, considering
that both moodymann and the west london guys appeared on some of
those labels, i dont see the difference so much. its all techno
and house music to me.
