Theo Parrish - Saturday - Music Box - Manchester

OK, so Theo played Manchester for the first time on saturday....

Big shout to everyone who was there - loads of people I'd not seen in
ages.....

Erm, well, I was drunk. So I don't remember a great deal. First off, it was
packed - it always is for Electric Chair, but really, they have to stop
letting so many people in - it gets a bit daft at times....

Theo came on around 12.30/1 I think. Tore the place up for the first hour
or two. Dropping all kinds, all over the eq's - you know, the usual Theo
style. Tracks I can remember - "BumbleBee Unlimited - Everybody Dance", a
mad mix of Peven Everett that I'd not heard before, Loose Joints "Is it all
over my face" (I think this was an unreleased version too....), maybe some
real old Farley stuff... and that's about all I can remember. I was leaping
round like a loon generally having a good time anyway. It was weird though,
I dunno, he never seemed to really get into it. Certainly around 3 the
atmosphere had calmed down a bit and the floor had seemed to lose interest
a bit. I don't know if Theo was stilll on at this stage, or if Luke had
come back on, but he definitely had the floor till this point, and then
seemed to lose it real quick. Could have been me though, I was pretty tired
cos I'd been up at 7.30 am to go record digging, so I don't know, and I
couldn't be arsed battling the spotters to see if he was stilll on. I think
a few other people said the same sort of thing......

Other things to consider are that the chair crowd can be a bit of a funny
one - you tend to get alot of 'london haircuts' and 'weightlifting
trainers' in there if you know what I mean, so maybe he wasn't feeling the
crowd too much...
The other thing is, you build these things up in your head, as in "theo's
playing tonight, can't wait, it's going to be killer" and if he falls short
of that even slightly, you feel a little bit disappointed in some way.
Still, I don't know why I do that, I mean the way I crack on sometimes he
should be stood up there pulling frigging rabbits out of hats, so thats
entirely my own fault..!

So, In summary - he was good (he always is), but I've heard him play
better. I had a good night though....
Big shout to Justin/Luke/Kelvin for putting him on.....

Alex
