That's not entirely true.  I used to own a pair of Technics 1200s that were
brought over from Germany, and the PSU on that model could handle 110v-120v
220v-240v and 50hz-60hz.  I didn't have to do anything except change the
plug.

I see that all of the ones being sold in the UK and Germany advertise the
same sort of power supply, but I don't know if the ones sold in the US have
the same PSU.  It's very likely that it will say the power supply properties
where the power cable exits the molded plastic.  If it can handle 110v-120v
220v-240v and 50hz-60hz, then you'll only need to change the type of plug :)

you can get a step up tranformer from radio shack though, and it will handle
the conversion for you
