During the World Series in 2001 Ray Charles opened up the night singing "America the Beautiful" instead of the typical "Star Spangled Banner" that everyone else does. It sent shivers down my spine. I felt shivers down my spine, and it gave me a feeling inside that no song had ever done before. I will always remember watching that, especially its proximity to the 9/11 tradgey. This yahoo news article mentions it, but doesn't give anywhere near the credit he deserved for the wonderful job he did.
