I try not to play my favourites when I am down as I don't want to project my mood onto the record and then think back to depressing things when I next play them again. ;) But some things I always love playing - usually those classic albums that you loved when they first came out (or when you discovered them) and still love years on, like: Propaganda's first album The Wu's Wu-Tang Forever Mary J's My Life Marvin Gaye's What's Going On LP, plus I Want You & Sexual Healing Randy Crawford, One Day I'll Fly Away Stacey's The Day... Innerzone Orchestra LP Derrick May Innovator Jeff Mills' The Other Day Inner City Good Life Pharrell Frontin' Any Jay-Z album but especially The Blueprint Any Mariah Carey (not the later stuff) (it's a girl thing) Theo Parrish First Floor Amerie All I Have
Current faves: Kanye West LP Alicia Keys' Samsonite Man The Roots' Star from The Tipping Point The 411 On My Knees remix Cee-Lo's Together Kelis/Andre 3000, Millionaire Richard X Back To Mine Wannabe Adina Howard ---------- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: (313) Bad Day >Date: Thu, 15 Jul 2004 11:22 AM > > > > > > i'm also a great fan of the uplifting qualities of melancholy music. i > thought nietzsche captured it nicely when he spoke of the ability to "look > into the abyss of woe and affirm it with the joy of eternity." > james > www.jbucknell.com > > > > > > Michael.Elliot-Kn > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To > 14/07/04 02:42 PM 313@hyperreal.org > cc > > Subject > Re: (313) Bad Day > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > What's is it about listening to melancholy music that makes me feel better > than I have been? > > I tend to go for stuff like Fennesz, Minotaur Shock, Isan, Opiate, David > Sylvian, Ogurusu Norihide, and such when I'm feeling blue. > > MEK > > > ForwardSourceID:NT0000F982 >
