yeah i was asking the same things when it came up on c-b-s....which IoCE, where? and what jurisdiction do they really have? is it the sort of thing that the manufacturing industry just ignores? and why the record focus? vinyl is also widely used in toys, upholstery, and of course -- vinyl siding for homes. etc. records may not be big business but all that stuff sure is.
it's a bunch of contradictions -- it says the cessation is about environmental standards or something, and goes on to say a replacement material could be created but there is not enough commercial viability (if it's such a small unviable industry how big could the environmental impact be?). but of course there are the toys, upholstery/fabrics, building materials, etc etc etc -- surely a replacement material has commercial viability. i dont get it and my head hurts. i don't want to press in the czech republic. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Feb 2, 2005 12:50 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: (313) vinyl hangs on Nice expos. I'd like to know the origin of that "press release" that is circulating around regarding the ceasing of manufacturing of records by 2009. It's sounds suspect for several reasons - the existence of more than one IoCE (there's at least one in every country) and the Tower records as industry spokesperson? C'mon...
