or so it would seem from the amount of stuff I picked up this weekend Rekid - Era EP (Soul Jazz) - fantastically deep Basic Channel meets Maurice Fulton type of thing Sin - So Sad/Sex is More/On Boulevards (Abuse Industries) - w/Abe Duque remixes on So Sad and On Boulevards. So Sad - a dark deep house tune with more spoken than sung lyrics . Other tracks are downtempo and dub/reggae. Newworldromantic - Spirit EP (Delsin) A Man Called Adam - Techno Powers w/DJ Harry remix (Southern Fried) A Guy Called Gerald - Firt Try EP (!k7) Looking forward to getting the full-length. Dan Curtin - Distort.Archive.Desire (Down Low) - a surprise find and one of my favorites out of the bunch. Claude Young - Electronic Dissident (Dust Science) - nice one Martin! One of the best things I've heard from Claude in a while. Far out space music. G. Rizo - Je Me Mentis (Select Cuts/Codek Records) - another interesting find. Acid dub reggae with an almost Grace Jones feel to the vocals - all sung in French. Massive one drop! Sent me out on a hunt for Tackhead/Pop Group/etc. Anyone have suggestions for similar sounds - dance rock reggae dub with maybe some acid thrown in for a good head freak-out? Old or new doesn't matter. Anthony Nicholson - Dirty Soul (Track Mode) Blake Baxter - Poetry and Rhythm Session Two (Mix Media) - includes Blake doing a cover of Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence. Abe Duque - #6 Champagne Days, Cocain Nights (Abe Duque) - acid acid acid acid acid acid acid, and more acid. Fat Freddy's Drop - Hope 10" (but I don't recall now if it's the remix or original 10" - either way it's good) and I just got in the mail today: Werk One - compilation 12" from the London Werk-a-holics. Can't wait to get this home. Frantic Flowers #1 - see above comment. now I've got $4 left. MEK
