Werd. I grew up the rather anglophile S-W Ontario, and I *never* got
over the whole "smoke a fag" thing. Of course, I don't think of the
violent "smoking", but the that'll-cost-you-$20 kind of "smoking" =]
Anyway, this topic has been discussed to death, so I'll keep it
short(-ish). When I used to hit a lot of parties in Chicago and Indy
in the late 90's, booty was always a sure way to flood the floor with
girls and queer kids. The same when I moved back to T.O. for the early
2K's. My most enduring memories of booty are of me and a girl-buddy of
mine taking turns grinding on each other.
As one of the above-mentioned queer kids, I'm included in 50% of the
invective of booty (and, depending on how you read "b!tch", I might
qualify for the other 50% as well). I'm well aware of it, and it
contributes to the absurd excess of "masculinity" that I find so
hilarious in booty. If there's anything that I find disturbing about
booty, it's actually how it re-presents black (heterosexual) male
sexuality/identity... Anyway, my point is that the way people
understand booty isn't as simple as ironic/sincere or good/bad.

Not as weird as "smoking fags" NOT being considered an outrageously
