I have an advance pro of about 4/5 songs including the single.
I'd love to rave about it but I was seriously underwhelmed. It's very MOR. I
think the single is cool - nice upbeat song. I believe the Australian album
release has been pushed back to July (unsure if it's out in the US as of
yet).
The ironic thing is that some of the neo-soul acts are now doing better soul
than Wonder (though that's not to say his material doesn't have feeling,
it's more the songs and arrangements didn't do much for me - it's more Ebony
& Ivory than his classic era/s).
On the soul tip...
At first I was sceptical of the hype behind John Legend, wondering why he
was blowing up and acts like Van Hunt weren't - I wondered if it wasn't his
association with Kanye West. But I saw him live in Melbourne and was blown
away. He really gives his all as a performer.
He's also a very humble man - no big entourages who throw their weight
around as with some big acts, just a very personable tour manager.
