I think it would be of some benefit if you had specially designed earplugs just
to filter out some of the noise, but maybe not -25dB ones.. or even -15dB..
just for that one ear with the headphone on all the time.. I sometimes worry
that I've got the music too loud coming through the headphones ("is it very
clear, or have I got it very loud.. or both?").

I heard that classical musicians also use special earplugs because the
orchestral pit can actually be quite loud and/on going noise at a particular
level...

Foam ones are pretty good if you can train your ears to listen. I can now hear
conversations a few metres away at clubs because people are almost yelling! I
use the Howard Leight Lazer Lites. They have some nice coating on them, fit
better than the EAR yellow ones and cheap enough to lose/ have a few on hand.

Hmmm disagree with Max on the fact you can Dj with earplugs without any problem.

By some way i cant describe, it is different, and friends of mine and also
people like Laurent Garnier feel the same.

Of course with some practice it is not that difficult to Dj with them (I know
Surgeon does that, Jack de Marseille even doesthat with the -25dB ones), but
definitely it's not that easy !
