Subject: (313) Saturday Night Techno Mashup Party Time

In which I employ Ableton Live to sync up Jeff Mills "The Bells" and
Four of A Kind's "Rail Gaddi." The Bells is pitched down a whole
tone, and I did some edits later to match Mills to the bhangra track's
structure.

I'd been driving around with just one CD in the van for a few weeks,
"The Rough Guide To Bhangra Dance." and Rail Gaddi seemed really
techno all by itself. The melody basically danced around one minor
chord, so it seemed like a no brainer to mash it up with The Bells..

When I got Rail Gaddi all beat mapped, and started in sync with the
Mills, I just laughed like an idiot the whole first time through the
track, because it fit together so sweet. Both tracks break down in the
same places for the first 3 minutes and the Mills 'bells riff' really
meshed in unexpected ways.

Anyone else silly enough to do stuff like this! I want to do the all
techno-mashup mixtape!

Nice work, Kent. Listening for the 2nd time to it now as I type this.
Wish the mp3 was longer, though. Andrew
